Q & A with Louise Bayliss
Treoir is delighted to announce Louise Bayliss as the new Chairperson of the Board. With a strong background in social justice and a deep commitment to advocating for lone parent households, Louise brings a strong vision and leadership experience to the role. Treoir is very excited to utilise her guidance in fulfilling its mission in supporting modern families across Ireland.
We sat down with Louise to learn more about what sparked her involvement with Treoir and her experiences on the council so far.
Can you tell us a little about your background?
LB: My name is Louise. I’ve a MSc in Equality Studies and I have been involved in social justice issues for a long time. I have two children and one dog, who identifies as a baby! I currently work in the charity sector and I am a founding member and spokesperson of SPARK (Single Parents Acting for the Rights of Kids). I know we can create an Ireland where every member of society has the opportunity to flourish.
How long have you been involved with Treoir, and what has been your experience so far?
LB: I’ve been part of the Treoir council since 2019. I love being part of Treoir. I’m always so impressed by the effectiveness and the work load that such a small but committed team have achieved. Damien is a great leader, and the team work so well together. The members of the Council all work well together and I think as an organisation, Treoir are punching above their weight.
What do you like to do in your spare time when you’re not working?
LB: Spare time, what’s that? All joking aside, when I am relaxing, walking my dog or singing Karaoke (badly) are all things to bring a smile to my face.
What message would you like to share with the Treoir community as you step into this role?
LB: Treoir is a membership organisation, so I really want to ensure that the work we are doing represents the goals of our members. I hope to have more membership days to get to know what they need from us and to learn from their on-the-ground experiences. I want to enhance the sense of community among the Treoir membership base.
